Ingredients
  

  • 500 g about 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 50 g 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 7 g 1 packet instant yeast
  • 250 ml 1 cup milk
  • 200 g 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 egg for egg wash

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Warm the milk and gradually add it to the dry ingredients. Knead until smooth, then let the dough rest until it doubles in size.
  • Incorporate Butter: Roll out the dough, spread softened butter over it, and fold it into thirds. Repeat this process three times to create layers.
  • Shape the Gipfeli: Cut the dough into triangles and roll each from the base to the tip to form a crescent shape.
  • Bake: Brush with an egg wash, then bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (390°F) for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
