Ingredients
  

Food Coloring

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk

Food Coloring

Frosting

  • 4 cups buttercream frosting
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your cake pans.
  • Mix the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, salt) in a bowl.
  • In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients and milk, alternating between the two. Mix until smooth.
  • Divide the batter into separate bowls and add food coloring to each, mixing until the desired color is achieved.
  • Spoon the colored batter into the cake pans, layering the colors in a rainbow pattern. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Allow the cakes to cool completely before frosting.
  • Frost the cake with buttercream frosting, decorating with a unicorn horn and ears made from fondant or modeling chocolate.
